We currently have an Area Production Manager position available at our facility in Pocatello, ID.
SUMMARY
Incumbents in this position provide leadership and direction in the effective operation and maintenance of equipment and processes in a safe, environmentally sound and efficient manner in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Supervise, schedule, evaluate, train, and motivate hourly personnel. Maintain high level of confidentiality. The incumbent is also expected to provide leadership in process, organizational, and personnel improvement efforts. He/she will also perform at a high level in positively relating to others and positively representing to others the views of his/her leadership. The incumbent will be a proactive maintenance and operations leader, identifying process and equipment vulnerabilities and creating plans to act upon findings.
RESPONSIBILITIESProvide strong safety leadership to foster a safe working environment. Must lead by example and personally complying with all rules and regulations while performing all duties. Maintain a positive and proactive safety attitude at all times and ensure all other personnel are performing at the same level.Responsible for working closely with the training department to ensure all new operators are properly trained. Must be able to effectively coach/mentor current operators so they can effectively perform their assigned job duties.Must be self-directed and set high expectations for him/her self while maintaining self-accountability and a strong sense of ownership. Be able to set clear expectations for others and hold them to it.Communicate area plans, goals and objectives to others. Ensures that each operator meets or exceeds performance standards on a day to day basis.Evaluate production, labor, E&I and maintenance schedules to ensure the proper resources are available for efficient day to day operation of the Plant and during down days. Develop daily production plans to ensure equipment & processes are maintained to the highest level possible to maximize production. Adhere to all environmental policy & regulations and strive for continuous improvement by working towards a zero release mindset. Foster a teamwork environment while maintaining a positive attitude. Collects and evaluate daily logs, production reports and downtime reports. Continually striving to reduce downtime numbers and increase production through the use of these reports.Responsible for coordinating projects and special assignments throughout the Plant. Evaluate work activities and projects to ensure conformance to timeline, budget, workloads, safety, and environmental regulations. Maintain regular communication with Management. Review the Plant's operating procedures. Update, edit, and create new operating procedures to ensure conformance to policies, procedures, safety, and environmental guidelines. Ensure current operating procedures are distributed to all necessary personnel and are maintained in adequate electronic files. Supervise operating, maintenance, and troubleshooting processes. Communicate precise processes and procedures to direct reports. Attend in-house and outside technical and supervisory seminars and training session.Troubleshoot, monitor, and maintain equipment. Complete reports and inspections as required.Control costs to a budget. Be responsible for equipment uptime and account for equipment downtime. Organize outages to minimize equipment downtime by establishing effective cross-departmental partnerships.
REQUIREMENTSHigh School Diploma or equivalent and experience in an operating chemical production plant.3-5 years progressive leadership of people.Knowledge of the organization's industry group, trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations, and trendsetters; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations. Ability to collaborate across multiple functions to successful accomplish objectives.Inventory Management: Knowledge of issues and considerations for effectively managing local or distributed inventories of raw materials, work in progress and finished goods. Logistics Management: Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials throughout the manufacturing cycle. Materials Handling Management: Knowledge of raw and/or hazardous materials used in the manufacturing process and the equipment and methods to handle them safely and effectively. Environmental Regulation Management: Knowledge and understanding of federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting manufacturing practices and activities. Planning: Knowledge of the process, practices and systems used to optimize planning for manufacturing cycles and ensure capacity and materials availability. Safety Competency: Knowledge of methods, accepted practices, considerations and regulatory requirements associated with safety and protection of workers, environment and site. Standards, Policies, and Procedures Competency: Knowledge of and ability to use and influence organization's policies, standards and procedures guiding manufacturing processes. Production Schedule Control: Knowledge of procedures and tools for scheduling and controlling production runs and assuring quality deliverables. Production Training Competency: Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for delivering formal and informal training on the safe and efficient operation of production machinery; ability to conduct effective formal and situation-specific training. Standard Operating Procedure Competency: Knowledge of and ability to design, implement and evaluate standard operating procedures affecting daily and strategic business operations in order to increase operational efficiency.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAvailable and able to work in various weather conditions.Ability to stand for long periods, possibly for up to 12 hours.Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work at heights exceeding 100ft.Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator.
