This announcement will be used to fill the current vacancy for a Maintenance Foreman, at the Pocatello Women's Correctional Center (PWCC). The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining and repairing plumbing fixtures, heating, ventilation, and air condition equipment, repair or purchase of equipment, and maintain control of inmates while performing repair work.

* Replace switches, receptacles, ballast's, fuse boxes, heat system, motors, fans and lights
* Maintain and repair plumbing fixtures, lavatories, faucets, sinks, tubs, water heaters and water service and drain lines
* Patch holes in walls using sheetrock, plywood, tile and plaster
* Maintain and repairs heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment such as air compressors, dryers, strainers
* Conduct preventative maintenance on building devices and systems
* Recommend repair or purchase of equipment; maintain records and date of maintenance work performed
* Recommend hiring of inmate workers
* Maintain control of inmates while performing repair work; conduct search for weapons, tools, and contraband
* Good knowledge of safety requirements associated with mechanical and construction trade jobs
* Some knowledge of supervisory practices
* Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and construction specifications for the purpose of constructing and maintaining structures and buildings
* Good knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance
* Some knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems maintenance
* Valid Driver's License
* To be hired, candidates will have a history and background supportive of department mission goals and will be subject to:
* Completing a Background Investigation Questionnaire and pre-employment drug testing
* Having a federal and state criminal background check to include fingerprints
* Having a history of law-abiding behavior
* Felonies, misdemeanors, illegal drug usage, DUI's, adverse driving convictions and employment history may make you ineligible for employment
Non-hiring restrictions are in place for candidates who:
* Have been convicted of Domestic Violence or similar types of violent behaviors
* Have a dishonorable discharge from military service
* Currently are using, dealing or are associated with illegal drugs
* Have close friends or relatives under IDOC care & custody
* Are currently under IDOC supervision or probation (must be released from IDOC supervision or probation for at least one year)
You will receive a score based on your education and experience in the answers to the exam. A minimum score of **66** is required to pass. Notification of your test results will be available online when the exam review process has been completed. All answers to the questions on the exam must be supported in the work history, resume, and/or education portion of your application.
In compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) of 2003, we are required to obtain certain information in the exam/interview process and consider specific information when making hiring and selection decisions for positions that have contact with inmates "in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institution..." The PREA Standards do not require we obtain this information for positions not within a correctional facility such as Probation & Parole and Central Office positions. Again, these changes are being implemented in order for the department to the meet the requirement of PREA standards.
